Data & Statistical Disclaimer
1. Statistical Estimates & Margins of Error (MOE)
Demographic, economic, and housing figures on EachTown originate primarily from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates. ACS figures are sample-based statistical estimates rather than complete decennial headcounts.
Every published ACS estimate carries a Margin of Error (MOE) calculated at the 90% confidence level. Users should evaluate estimates alongside their published margins of error, particularly when analyzing small towns, rural communities, or detailed demographic subcategories.
| Survey Program | Methodology | Confidence Interval | Analytical Consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| ACS 5-Year | 60-month pooled household sampling | 90% MOE (±1.645 × SE) | Sample sizes in small communities carry wider margins of error. |
| PEP Estimates | Administrative records & demographic components | Model-based | Subject to annual postcensal revisions. |
2. Cartographic Boundaries & Coordinates
Geographic polygons and internal coordinates displayed on EachTown reflect U.S. Census Bureau TIGER/Line cartographic boundary files. These boundaries are generalized for web cartography and statistical tabulation. They do not constitute legal property surveys, tax parcel boundaries, municipal annexation deeds, or emergency dispatch boundaries.
3. Civic Facility & School Directory Records
Civic facilities (hospitals, libraries, colleges, airports) and brief K–12 school directory items represent federal and partner directory snapshots. School attendance zones, eligibility, and program boundaries are determined exclusively by local school districts; directory proximity does not constitute an enrollment entitlement or school attendance zone guarantee.
4. Climate Normals & Weather Observations
Climate normals represent 30-year historical averages published by NOAA / NCEI for reference weather stations. Cached forecast points should not be relied upon for maritime navigation, aviation safety, or extreme weather life-safety decisions.
5. No Professional Advice
Content published on EachTown is provided for reference and educational purposes only. It does not constitute legal, municipal planning, tax, accounting, or real estate investment counsel.
